Dease Lake School<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dease Lake School is located in the Stikine School District 87. The Stikine encompasses 188 034 square kilometres with stunning landscapes, a boreal climate and isolated communities separated by large distances. The Tahltan, Tlingit and Kaska Peoples are the original First Nations of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tahltan School<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tahltan School is located in Telegraph Creek, BC on Highway 51 approximately 112 kilometers southwest of Dease Lake. This small, close knit community is a few hours upstream from the Alaska border and is home to the Tahltan First Nation. Tahltan School has approximately 23 students in K-9. The school staff takes pride in the success of their students in all learning domains. The school embraces local culture through activities such as Tahltan language, art, and culture including living on the land, fishing and camping, and Tahltan dancing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Denetia School<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Denetia School is a K-7 school located in Lower Post, British Columbia, making it B.C.’s most northern school. The school employs a Principal\/Teacher, Secretary\/Music Instructor, a Student Aide\/Kaska Instructor, and a Custodian. Lower Post is a Kaska Nation community located 22 kilometers south of Watson Lake, Yukon. Denetia, which means “Good Person” in the Kaska language, has twelve students (as of 2011) that attend as one class. The school focuses on a program developed by the Principal\/Teacher called P.A.C.E.S., an acronym for Personal Achievement Cultural Experiential Skills. The philosophy is to combine traditional local aboriginal language, culture and traditions with hands-on learning experiences that are engaging and personally relevant to the students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
