Response Ability Pathway

School District 87 promotes the principles of Response Abilities Pathways (RAP) principles. RAP offers vital training for success for our students. RAP is a powerful alternative to either punitive or permissive approaches. RAP taps and develops the innate strength of students through "universal design" principles. The "Circle of Courage" is used to identify monitor growth needs of our students. Further to this, the principles of Restitution as self-discipline are promoted to bring activities into the classroom and school at large that will develop more resilient and self regulated learners, thus creating a healthier and positive school culture. Another aspect of this overall commitment to supporting learners is Restorative Justice, a way to restore offenders and victims in order to resume healthy relationships and behaviors in the school community.
